"Mount Hood is the model peak for this piece which reimagines the first European contact with indigenous people of the Western United States. Many of whom the Natives were friendly with, providing trade and commerce in relative peace and harmony. This was the way of life until nations began breaking treaties with Native Tribes in pursuit of land and resources. Between 1778 and 1871, it is estimated that the US Government broke between 370 and 374 treaties they had signed with Native American Tribes. This is how the “The Indian Wars” began.
